Noble Frederick Smith along with 2 other alumnus of Provine High School decided to start a group to donate laptops to high school senior achievers. Frederick Smith, “Since 2013, my company, Global Interact Technology has been sponsoring/donating laptops to students who are recognize and high achievers at Provine High School. I am excited to have partnered with other alumnus. It’s our job to continue to invest in our youth and build a better future”.

Karchona Johnson stated, “72 million children around the world are not enrolled in school. That’s a big concern for me. That’s why it’s very important to focus on retooling our education system by supplying resources”.

Mitiza — “I have a true passion for our children.  They deserve our support.  When I attended Provine High School, there was little to no support from alumnus. We just want the children to know that we care. I try to do what I can to show them that they matter and we care”.

Fred Kency Jr. stated,  “I wish I could give a laptop to every graduating senior, maybe one day!! Until then, we will do our part to give back to the high school that afforded us the opportunities that we have.  Our Principal during our time at Provine High, Tex Red, always quoted, “You can go anywhere in life, From 2400 Robinson Rd.”  Those words still inspire me til this day!”.

Education is critical during times of conflict

In times of conflict and crisis, kids and teens are forced out of school, which contributes to higher drop-out rates and lower completion rates. Having a strong focus on education in Mississippi is critical, since education promotes stability, good governance, and peace. It can also provide a visible sign of a return to normalcy for children.

Early childhood education is vital to lifelong success

Investing in quality early childhood education brings the highest returns from individuals, societies and countries. Children who have access to quality early childhood programs do better in primary school and will have better education outcomes later. It is vital that low and lower middle-income countries invest more in affordable early childhood programs.
